Women’s Self Defense Demonstration

Mr. Joe Cayer

Joe began his journey in the arts 41 years ago at the age of ten in 1972. Sensei Cayer served as a Police Officer in Fort Walton Beach and is a certified Law Enforcement Combat Tactics Instructor. Joe also served as a professional bodyguard in the 1980’s and early 90’s. In 2003 Joe traveled on the Team America to the Irish Cup World Competitions and won the Grand Championship in the fighting division in Dublin, Ireland.

In 2007, Joe was awarded The President’s Bronze Volunteer Service Award by President Bush for his 25 years of volunteering to his community and the local Police & Sheriff’s Office. He was given a special award by the U.S. House of Representatives for his free protection seminars and community service. In 2010 he earned his 9th Dan in Shotokan Karate and received his Doctorate degree in Martial Art Science in 2011. With 11 black belts achieved, Dr. Cayer recently earned his 12th black belt in Israeli Krav Maga.

Grand Master Cayer has taught over 23,000 women via his free self-protection clinics throughout his career and thousands of children in his bully-protection clinic s and was honored with the Florida Crime Prevention Leadership Award. He has taught the 7th Special Forces military team, specialty teams, and our servicemen at Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field and also received the commander’s coin for his voluntary efforts. Grand Master was recently honored by the Governor of Florida for his volunteer efforts with Seal Team Six, the US Army Rangers and helping the wounded warriors’ project.

Joe is the owner of Emerald Coast Martial Arts Academy of Fort Walton Beach & Destin and continues his volunteer efforts in our community.
